What is blood pressure ?

The majority of people suffering from high blood pressure do not see any warning signs or symptoms. Only those with severe high blood pressure experience any warning signs at all.

How do you define Blood Pressure?

A definition of blood pressure is the force that is applied to arteries ad the blood flows through them. Blood pressure is the measurement of the force that blood applies to the walls of the arteries as it flows through them carrying oxygen and nutrients to the body�s vital organs and systems.

The reasons for this are not fully understood but research has shown that if you are of South Asian origin then you are more likely to have diabetes or a heart attack later in life which means that it is important for you to keep your blood pressure and cholesterol levels checked at regular intervals. If you have diabetes, kidney disease or heart disease then it is even more important that your blood pressure is checked regularly and if raised kept under control. If you are carrying excess weight, consume too much salt and not enough fruits and vegetables, take no exercise and drink too much alcohol you are more likely to have high blood pressure

Pharmaceutical companies are exploring ways to identify natural remedies for high blood pressure and to determine the active principles in those specific remedies to see if they can be duplicated. Natural remedies for high blood pressure include losing weight, avoiding alcoholic beverages, and beginning some regular exercise.

One of the ways to reduce salt in your diet is to closely examine the labels on processed foods when shopping. The salt levels in many foods affect our blood pressure levels.
